Stone Assistance has develop its own methodology to evaluate the cutting efficiency and wear resistance of different cutting tools used in the stone industry like polycrystalline diamond compact, carbide or impregnated inserts. Cutting tests help comparing the efficiency of several tool geometries, from different manufacturers, in similar working conditions. Wear tests help classifying the cutting tools based on the resistance to abrasive wear and evaluating the life span of the tools.

Our experience :

  • Understanding stone cutting mechanisms with carbide and PDC cutters or impregnated diamond inserts
  • Characterzation of the wear mechanisms and tool resistance to abrasive wear
  • Development of cutting and wear models for the design of new cutting tools
  • Advice for choosing adapted tools based on stone properties
